Tonya Davis Barber is an experienced attorney who believes that good legal representation begins with listening. She understands that navigating a legal matter can be overwhelming, and she strives to make each client feel heard, informed, and confident in the process.

Tonya earned her law degree from North Carolina Central University School of Law in 2011. Before becoming an attorney, she spent ten years working as a paralegal for local attorneys, giving her a unique perspective on the practice of law and the needs of clients. That experience continues to shape her practical, compassionate approach to representing the people and families in her community.

Tonya has experience in a variety of areas of law, including criminal defense and traffic matters, and she previously served as both a prosecutor and a magistrate. Her primary focus, however, is family law. She understands that family law cases often involve some of the most difficult and personal circumstances a person can face, and she is committed to providing knowledgeable, thoughtful, and effective representation while helping her clients navigate those challenges.

Tonya practices in Wayne, Greene, and Lenoir Counties. She was appointed to serve on the North Carolina Indigent Defense Services Commission in 2022 and continues to serve in that role. She is also the current President of the Wayne County Bar Association and has previously served as President of the District Bar.

Community involvement has always been important to Tonya. She has served or been involved with organizations including the Downtown Goldsboro Development Corporation, the Boys & Girls Club, CALM, the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce, the Goldsboro Jaycees, and the Guardian ad Litem program.

Outside of the courtroom, Tonya is a wife and mother of two. She values the relationships she has built throughout her career and community and considers it a privilege to advocate for the people and families she serves.
